The Dutch shipyard, Lynx Yachts, has rounded off the first quarter of 2022 with a major announcement: the launch of its first 27.4-metre Crossover 27 superyacht, Avontuur.
Avontuur, which first hit the water on 18th March, is the first in Lynx Yachts’ Crossover series and boasts numerous custom features in order to meet her American owner’s requirements. Carrying the name ‘Avontuur’ (Dutch for ‘adventure’), the yacht’s design and layout maximise tender and toy storage to suit the needs of her outdoorsy and sporty owner, whilst still retaining her stylish superyacht appearance.
The vessel’s initial layout from the yard included four staterooms, comprising an owner’s cabin, a VIP cabin, and two twin cabins with the crew quarters located aft of the engine room. However, the owner of this particular Crossover opted to change this, with Avontuur offering three guest cabins and with the crew quarters also integrated into the guest space.
With the concept design and engineering taken care of in house, the vessel features exterior design from the drawing boards of the Dutch studio Bernd Weel, interiors by the French designer Franck Darnet and naval architecture by the Alkmaar-based studio Diana Yacht Design.
Standout features on board Avontuur include her large light-filled main deck saloon, as well as her 70-square-metre main deck which transforms easily into a spacious entertainment area once the toys, an Air Nautique G23 and a five-metre RIB, are launched.
The sundeck is equipped with a crane, and will house two Yamaha Waverunners and two stand-up jetskis. The lazarette/toy storage provides ample space for watersports equipment such as stand-up paddleboards, surfboards, canoes, scuba diving equipment and much more.
Performance-wise, the Crossover 27 also does not disappoint, reaching a maximum speed of 14 knots, a cruising speed of 12.5 knots and boasting an impressive eco range of 1,800 nautical miles. The vessel’s power is provided by twin Caterpillar C12.9–2 x 850hpat 2300 rpm engines.
Slim Bouricha, Founder & Owner of Lynx Yachts, commented at the launch: “We are delighted to launch Avontuur following a fantastic and fruitful collaboration with her Californian owner. He is a seasoned and sporty yachtsman who was involved at every single level of the build, and it has been a real pleasure working together.”
Delivery of the yacht will take place in April, after which Avontuur will make her maiden trip around the Mediterranean to enjoy the best of summer cruising, before making her way to the USA at the end of the season.
Lynx Yachts’ Crossover 27 brings together the best of two worlds: offering the robustness, versatility and generous storage space of a support vessel whilst still providing the comfort, elegance and customisation of a superyacht. This makes her ideal for the next generation of adventurous owners who want to make the most of their time at sea, whether through watersports or exploration. Other series from Lynx Yachts include the Adventure Series – combining superyacht luxury with exceptional tender and toy carrying capacity – and the YXT series of robust and flexible shadow vessels.
The Crossover 27 yacht Avontuur will make her debut at this year’s Cannes Yachting Festival.
